A man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of teenager Ellis Cox.
The 19-year-old from Maghull was detained at Liverpool John Lennon Airport on 23 April , having arrived on a flight from Spain.
Ellis, 19, was fatally shot at the Liver Industrial Estate in Merseyside on 23 June 2024 when returning home from a bike ride, and the investigation into his death is ongoing.
He is the seventh person to be arrested in connection with this case, with six people who were previously arrested all on conditional bail pending further inquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath said: “I hope this latest arrest shows how our investigation team remain as determined as ever to get justice for Ellis’ family and time is no barrier to our relentless pursuit of all those involved in his murder.
“Although we have now made another arrest in connection with this incident, I want to urge anyone with information to come forward.
“It has been nearly two years since Ellis was shot at the Liver Industrial Estate and his family have been forced to live without anyone facing justice.
“If you have any information whatsoever, please search your conscience and come forward. The smallest detail could be vital to our inquiries.”
