Ramona Smucker, age 32, eldest daughter of Brian and Twila Smucker of Bonners Ferry, passed away suddenly on April 7, 2026, in Grenada, West Indies. She was vacationing there with her whole family and fiancé, Nils.
While on a hike to Seven Sisters waterfalls, she got separated from her family for a few minutes and was found in a pool of water by one of her sisters.

An autopsy showed that she likely passed away from a lung hemorrhage which is a rare complication from of Sjogren’s Syndrome, an auto-immune disease she had.

Ramona loved hiking and spending time in nature, often going up to the mountains here in Idaho with her friends when she would come home for a visit from her home in Boston, Massachusetts.

She died doing a thing she loved and surrounded by those closest to her in the beautiful country of Grenada where she had lived with her family for part of her childhood.
