On Monday, April 13, 2026, a tragic murder-suicide unfolded at the Excelcare at Egg Harbor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, located on the 6800 block of Delilah Road in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey.
The incident, which occurred around 6:00 a.m., resulted in the death of 38-year-old Victoria Alexander, a Licensed Practical Nurse at the facility, and her estranged husband, 35-year-old Brandon Alexander. The facility is situated in an industrial area, near the border with Pleasantville, New Jersey.
The sequence of events began when Victoria Alexander arrived for her morning shift. Her estranged husband, Brandon Alexander, was reportedly waiting for her in the parking lot. He used his vehicle to block her car, preventing her from leaving. During this confrontation, Brandon Alexander entered Victoria’s car and placed two suicide notes on the dashboard.
The situation escalated when a food delivery driver, attempting to navigate the parking lot, requested Brandon Alexander to move his vehicle. Seizing this momentary distraction, Victoria Alexander managed to escape her car and ran into the nursing home building, seeking refuge from her assailant.
However, Brandon Alexander pursued her into the facility. Inside the building, he confronted Victoria Alexander and shot her multiple times. Following this violent act, he then turned the gun on himself. Victoria Alexander was pronounced dead at the scene due to the gunshot wounds. Brandon Alexander, critically injured from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City. He succumbed to his injuries and died the following morning, Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
Atlantic County Prosecutor William Reynolds characterized the incident as a “tragic and deliberate act of domestic violence that escalated to deadly consequences,” underscoring the severe impact of such violence on families and public safety. Excelcare Health Management, through spokesperson Ken Hunter, confirmed that the shooting did not take place in any resident areas and praised the staff for adhering to safety protocols, ensuring the protection of residents and other employees during the crisis.
